3 way segregation at source of Waste
I am part of the management team and have been leading Solid Waste Management initiatives and other sustainability initiatives at Roseland Residency CHS Ltd, Pimple Saudagar, Pimpri Chinchwad, an award winning society. Roseland Residency home to around 1000+ families with around 4000+ residents is a Zero Waste Society which has implemented 3 way segregation at source , composting of organic waste, plastic and e-waste recycling, garden waste composting and urban discard recycling via Goonj to ensure minimal waste is sent to landfills and working towards a sustainable smart community with focus to move towards circular economy. Our society won National Swachh Bharat Award 2017 under RWA category for best practices and 3 way segregation under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan from Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, GOI. We also have implemented other sustainable initiatives like massive Rain water harvesting, water saving aerators (tanker free society for last 10 years), electricity conservation (MEDA award winner) and sparrow conservation. Our society has been a role model and guiding multiple societies in PCMC and Pune region on our Zero Waste Model and other sustainable initiatives.
Social platform means for training on home composting
I am an IT professional working at Edgeverve, an Infosys company with around 20 years of industry experience. My family has been leading a Zero Waste lifestyle for last 4 years and other sustainable lifestyle initiatives at individual level. Along with a group of my friends we have trained around 300+ families on home composting via whatsapp, youtube videos and through our facebook group “PCMC Pune Kachra Katta” in PCMC, Pune area. I was also instrumental in leading the “Plastic Bag Free Pimple Saudagar Abhiyan” in 2017 and have been a Solid Waste Management champion guiding individuals, communities in PCMC and Pune area , through awareness sessions at societies, corporates, schools and via point of view in TOI, Pune. I was featured on 94.3 Radio One as a Hatkar Punekar in 2018.
